Barn Construction

Well at first I thought I'd be able to build a whole barn out of only old barn wood, but it didn't turn out that way. I had to buy all the framing for it, but thankfully I was able to use old barn wood for all the siding and things like that. I was also able to get the metal roofing free, which was a great blessing, since that is REALLY expensive. The holes it has don't really matter; some silicone will easily fix that.
In the pictures with this post, you can see the construction as it progressed. I had a lot of fun building it, and it is nearly complete.

More Pictures of the Babies

Well I've got some more pictures of the kids, so here they are. They are all doing well right now, jumping and skipping around as little kids will do. They're also leaping, hopping, and acting as if they're frightened of themselves, just generally being funny. They are so much fun to watch!
I named Nutmeg's baby Pepita, and Caramel's twins Rocky Road (the boy, and he's got white, black, and brown on him), and the girl I named Henrietta Rosemary. She is a beautiful brown. I'll get more pictures of them when I get them :) Right now the pictures with this post are just of Pepita and Nutmeg.

Goat Kids

I am so excited about how well God is having things go!
Nutmeg, one of my Nubian does, kidded early Tuesday morning with a REALLY SMALL baby, whom I named Pepita, which in Spanish means "little nugget". Things were a little rough at first, but with some help over the phone from a friend, Pepita survived and is now bouncing around happily.
Caramel, who was also due the same time as Nutmeg, kidded this morning between 11:30 and 12:00 PM. She had an easy labor, thankfully, and her kids (she had twins) are doing well. Below are some pictures. I'll add more of them later, as well as pictures of the construction of the barn!
Thanks for reading

Welcome to Steady Oak News

I was originally going to write a newspaper, and I'm still going to do that for the folks that don't have Internet or email, but I thought it would be fun for everybody to see the goings on at Steady Oak Farm, which is what I named my farm.
Lots of things are going on these days!!
